About Mr Wayne Williams Candidate for C11 Devonshire east

Wayne Maurice Williams Dedicated to serving Devonshire East and all of Bermuda with integrity and transparency, our candidate is committed to making a positive impact in the community through active engagement and informed decision-making. Wayne currently resides in Devonshire, near where he was born and raised in Pembroke by Mother Ruth Helen Webb Gumbs, and Grandmother Elizabeth Robinson Gumbs, as his father passed away in car accident on Bermuda roads at the tender age of 28 when he was only 5 years old. He has always been an advocate for road safety ever since. Raised in the First Church of God Angle Street and North shore family of churches where he remains a member today.

Wayne has always been an outdoors person and has concerns about Bermuda island’s Ecosystem and Environment and Age Concerns for the elderly as his grandmother is now 102 years old. “I thought that tackling aging and the mechanisms that promote life would be worth figuring out. I wanted to learn why it is that some people are healthier than others and why some people live to 110 and others only to 60 or 70's”. “Keep close to Nature’s heart and break clear away to any part of Bermuda and see the real beauty we have under our care. Spend some time in Spittal Pond or South Shore beaches. Be mindful of this wonderful paradise God Created and Keep Bermuda Beautiful”.
“I stand for Equal rights of all people in Bermuda because we are all special, Imagine traveling Worldwide to somewhere your never been before but after that trip is over, the want the need to come back Home to Beautiful Bermuda! Keep that thought”. Wayne is also an advocate for Natural disaster awareness and would like for all of Bermuda to be Ready for such events if and when they occur.

Wayne has had a vast array of schooling here and abroad starting with attending Bishop Spencer Elementary and Victor Scott Primary School, while participating in many sports such as track and field, soccer, tennis and basketball, Rugby.

After graduating from Warwick Secondary School in 1982, Wayne then went on to become a Master Finish Carpenter and self-employed contractor, computer Builder until joining Cablevision in 1991. Over his 35-year professional journey at Cablevision and One Communications Ltd, Wayne earned multiple Associate’s degrees in Cable technician and Fiber Optics, two Bachelor's degrees in Engineering and Supervisor Managing and a Master’s in Advanced Technical Engineering from National Cable Television Institute in Denver Colorado as well as courses at Bermuda College. His dedication to continuous learning reflects his commitment to growth and innovation and it's all put right back into empowering the youth of Bermuda and Helping Seniors.

Beyond his professional career, Wayne is an avid golfer, Wayne has been playing for the past 21 years, winning multiple competitions and participating in the PGA Grand Slam Bermuda as a special guest for 4 magical years.

A father of 2, Wayne is a chef and grounds landscaper and loves the ocean and outdoors while occasionally dedicates time to beautifying and maintaining his neighborhood with roadside manicuring of the area as a way of giving back to his community and keeping Bermuda beautiful.

Bermuda's center-left Progressive Labor Party (PLP) held on to government for its third consecutive general election on Tuesday Feb 18th, 2025, losing four seats but retaining a comfortable majority even as a record number of candidates ran, many independently.
